The Olympic games are coming!

Only a few days left! This thursday Tomas flies out to Vancouver together with other members of the Czech olympic team. In exactly one week on February 16 he will skate the short program and the long program takes place on February 18. Read more...

This season did not prove to be one of the most successful ones of his career; on the contrary. Healthproblems throughout the season prevented him from skating his best at several competitions. Tomas however still believes he belongs to the top of figure skating and is determined to show this to the rest of the world at the olympic games. His trainings are going well; he has no problems to skate his programs from the beginning untill the end. Things are going like planned and he is really happy about that.

In the past few years a lot of people have been talking about Tomas as a medalcontender at these olympic games. However due to the results at previous competition a lot of people have abandoned this thought.
“I know what this season was like; it was better than any other. Finally I started a season really well, but then I had so many healthproblems I couldn't compete at full strength. Now I am back and I can demonstrate what's really in me. I want to go to Vancouver, skate my very best and afterwards we will see what the judges will do." Tomas  said about his plans in Vancouver.

Unlike for example Michal Brezina who flew to Vancouver last week, Tomas deciced not to fly out to Vancouver untill Thursday and stay to prepare in Oberstdorf. “I didn't want to go that early and take this competition as if it's so much bigger than any other competition. I want my preperation to be the same like for the other competitions, allthough I do realize that in the end it's not the same.” What Tomas and his team did change about his preperation is to start living and training as if already in the Vancouver timezone. It means that his first training is at 7PM and the second one at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning “it's not the same like as if being in Vancouver, but atleast my body is getting used to the other timezone. I think it's a good idea from my coach” Tomas commented on the schedulechange.

More information about the olympic games can be found on the official website. The short program will start on february 16 at 4.15PM local time (1.15AM CET on Feb. 17) and the long program will start at 5PM (2AM CET on Feb. 19). All competitions can be viewed live on this website.

Please don't forget to leave Tomas a message in the guestbook to wish him good luck!!
