8th National title!
Tomas won his 8th national title this past weekend! With an almost perfect free skate and 226.77 points he managed to stay ahead of Michal Brezina who finished second place.
In Ostrava the short program wasn't so succesfull for Tomas. He stepped out of the quad and fell on the axel. He received 70.45 points and was in second place after the short program.
He fought back in the long program however, skating an almost perfect and receiving a score of 156.32 points. According to Tomas however the spins and steps are not yet how they should be. "For the audience it might seem that this was a perfect skate. When you take a closer look at the spins and steps however, you will see they are a disaster. I did not skate my maximum, so I wouldn't injure myself again. I am still recovering and it's getting better and better and to injure myself again is the last thing I need. Because of that I did not push it that far during the spins and steps." Tomas said, because the spins and steps are the most problematic concerning his back injury.
Right now everything is going well again for Tomas and if it should continue this way, we might even see him do another quad in the long program soon.
Result details and protocols can be found on the website of the Czech federation. All of the long programs and a few interviews you can watch on the internet broadcast of CT4 here.
We would like to wish everyone a very happy holidays, keep on smiling and see you in the year 2012!!!
